Use a beer trap to get rid of unwanted pests, like slugs. Place a container in the ground so that the lip is even with the soil surface. Keep the jar filled with beer, up to about an inch from the top. The beer will attract the slugs and they will be trapped in the jar.
Try using soapy water to discourage aphids from bothering your plants. Just spray the plant's stems, leaves and buds using a light soapy water solution and follow it up using another spray of fresh and clean water.
